Supervisory Park Ranger (Chief of Interpretation)

This permanent position serves as the Chief of Interpretation at Petersburg National Battlefield. Responsible for planning, managing, directing and evaluating a complex, multi-faceted program of interpretation, education and visitor services. Serves as a member of the park's management team. Directly supervises three permanent GS-0025-09 Park Rangers and one GS-11 Supervisory Park Ranger who supervises up to three permanent Park Guides, GS-0090-05, up to four Seasonal Park Guides GS-0090-4/5; and potentially more than 10 volunteers. Serves as principal advisor to the Superintendent on interpretive, educational and social media issues. Acts as a subject matter expert for management documents including the long-range interpretive plan, interpretive service agreements, etc. Manages the division's budget. Utilizes new forms of interpretation, technology, outreach, education and partnerships to reach beyond traditional audiences to effectively engage new audiences such as youth, underserved populations, etc. Area and Park Information:
Petersburg National Battlefield is located approximately 20 miles south of Richmond, VA. It commemorates the 9 month siege that took place during the Civil War. Petersburg National Battlefield consists of four sites spread across three local government jurisdictions. Each site has its own unique historic story. Summers usually average 85-98 degrees with humidity. Winters usually average 35-55 degrees with frigid nights and a couple of snow falls a year. Schools, malls, and medical facilities are available. Mountains, beaches, and Washington, DC are within a two hour drive. Additional Information:

For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
supervising a park education and interpretive program; serving as a lead interpretive ranger, educator or teacher in a park, historic site, recreation, or conservation area; management or program specialist work involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to the education/interpretation programs in park areas or similar operations; or other similar work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
